Acupuncture

One of the oldest healing practices in the world, acupuncture involves the needling of anatomical points throughout the body to reduce inflammation and pain while stimulating the release of endorphins called serotonin. Dr. Judith McCann received her certification in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University.

Originating in China, acupuncture has been utilized as a tool against disease for thousands of years. Historically, the practice followed the principles of yin/yang and had an objective of restoring flow to oneโ€™s Qi (pronounced Chee). However, with the advancements and ongoing research in the medical field, acupuncture has become a successful supplemental therapeutic treatment for many conditions using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and neurology.

Through the stimulation of nerve bundles, medical acupuncture aids in inhibiting inflammatory and pain pathways and stimulating the release of endorphins within your body. The World Health Organization recognizes the use of acupuncture in the treatment of neurological and muscular disorders such as headaches, neck and back pain, sports injuries, osteoarthritis, and facial pain.
